Giving the past a future
Giving the Past a Future. Essays in Archaeology and Rock Art Studies in Honour of Dr. Phil. h.c. Gerhard Milstreu. We are delighted to announce the publication of a festschrift in Gerhard’s honour. The festschrift, with contributions from 26 authors, totaling 300 pages, was presented in a surprise ceremony at the closing dinner of the annual working seminar, which also celebrated yet another fantastic and successful working seminar, during which no less than 10 rocks were documented by 29 participants from 8 different countries.
2018 marks 40 years of both the working seminar and Gerhard’s leadership of Underslös Museum and the editors, therefore, teamed up to edit a festschrift in honour of Gerhard to suitably mark the occasion.
The book has been published by Archaeopress , and is available for free as an e-book on their website. A limited number of print copies are also available. Please contact Archaeopress (archaeopress.com) or the Museum to arrange purchase.
Price: Sek 199 / members Sek 160 excl shippingcosts.
Scholars, established and up-and-coming alike, stand alongside each other in a collection of works that are connected in one way or another on the theme on Gerhard’s life work and research interests: prehistoric art and the documentation of rock art.
We are most grateful for the support of the Lennart J. Hägglunds Stiftelse för Arkeologisk Forskning och Utbildning for financing the print run, and were delighted that they were represented at the ceremony by the presence of Jarl Nordbladh. Several other contributory authors were also able to be present at what was a very moving and wonderful occasion.
